Didn't make it to Sportello or The Gallows in time to try their cronut knock-offs? Not willing to wait in line for the real deal in New York? Starting today, there's a new croissant-doughnut in town. Café de Boston, a Financial District "marketplace eatery," is selling the buttery pastry plain or topped with vanilla or chocolate frosting.
Starting tomorrow, a number of area Whole Foods will start selling their version of the cronut as well. Meanwhile in New York, cronut mania is still going strong.
