For months it has been rumored that Tasty Burger had its eye on the Central Square location of Lyndell's Bakery (74 Prospect Street), and now Boston Restaurant Talk reports that a public notice confirms it. Lyndell's closed last week, citing an inability to renew the lease, but its 125-year-old Somerville location remains open.
According to Tasty Burger's public notice, for which a hearing is scheduled a week from today, the restaurant is seeking to serve beer and wine at the 4400-square-foot space, which will seat 49 inside and 20 on a seasonal patio outdoors. It could be open daily from 10am to 2am, pending approval.
Tasty Burger currently resides near Fenway (and newly in Fenway), in Southie, and in Harvard Square. The Southie location is a takeout joint while Fenway (not the one in the park) and Harvard offer full service.
The small chain is known for its burgers, which some would say are "tasty," as well as hot dogs (creepily called "shafts") and fried chicken sandwiches.
