It is officially too late to have one last meal at Cognac Bistro, as the Brookline restaurant closed yesterday. A Chowhound poster was at the farewell dinner and reports the meal was "delicious as always," but the mood was "very bittersweet." Devotees of chef/owner Nelson Cognac will have to head nearly to Canada to try his next restaurant, Big Jay Tavern, near Vermont ski resort Jay Peak. Another Chowhound says Cognac hopes to open in November at 3709 Mountain Rd., Montgomery, VT and Zagat teases a small-plate menu of American fare such as sliders and flatbreads.
As previously reported, the restaurant has been sold and will become an outpost of Quincy-based Indian restaurant Sher-A-Punjab.
