Massachusetts lands two spots on Bon Appetit's list of 50 nominees for Best New Restaurant; the winner will be announced on August 14th, along with a "Hot 10." The nominees were compiled by BA's Andrew Knowlton, who apparently went on "a 120-day, 26,333-mile, 22-state tour," according to a press release. (But how many meals, and more interestingly, how many calories, did that tour include?) California leads the list with seven nominations, Texas with six, and New York with five.
For Massachusetts, Cambridge represents. Puritan & Company in Inman Square earns a nomination because it "proves that modern New England cuisine encompasses far more than chowder," and "loft-like" West Bridge in Kendall Square also makes the cut for its "high-level French-inspired food." Our Northern neighbors in Maine also get a nod for Portland's Eventide Oyster Company. Stay tuned for the final results.
