Some restaurants take longer to open than others. Slated for Somerville, La Brasa, a Peruvian chicken restaurant from Sel de la Terre's Daniel Bojorquez and Frank McClelland, is definitely taking longer. A lease was first signed at 130 Broadway in January of 2012, a week-long preview menu was presented in April of that same year, and work was still rumored to be starting imminently as recently as January of this year. A call to the Somerville licensing department reveals no licenses have been requested for the restaurant. A call to the buildings department to determine if any construction licenses have been filed was not immediately returned. A representative for McClelland says "we are really excited but still awaiting some construction updates." Hit up the tipline if you have any La Brasa news.
