At some point in the next couple of weeks, you might be able to eat things like lions head meatball steamed buns and pu pu platters at Allston's upcoming Shanghai Social Club. The restaurant announced yesterday on Facebook that they are "working hard to finish construction and other preparations to opening," and they "expect to soft open in the next 2 weeks." Shanghai Social Club presented an early look at the menu at the Taste of Allston event in June, where an Eater tipster reported that the pork belly buns were "excellent." The menu is divided into two main sections: Shanghai Street Food ("in the style of Shanghai's savory street food joints") and Classics ("our unique take on traditional fare prepared as it always has been in the clubs and restaurants of Shanghai"). Bob Botchie, an alum of Myers + Chang and Erbaluce, is the executive chef.
