Charlestown's coveted Tavern on the Waterfront space has been completely renovated thanks to a brand new restaurant tenant. Pier 6 opened over the weekend, serving "an upscale menu focusing on fresh seafood, local ingredients, & New England fare." Conveniently enough, there were fireworks nearby. Greg Reeves, formerly the executive chef of Green Street in Cambridge's Central Square, is running the Pier 6 kitchen, and owner Charles Larner also owns Quincy Market's Mija Cantina and Tequila Bar.
Mentions of dishes like eggplant caponata and tomato salad have popped up on Facebook, while UrbanDaddy hints at lobster Rockefeller and Island Creek oysters. According to Pier 6's website and social media accounts, this week is a soft opening with a limited menu. The restaurant opens at 5pm tonight and tomorrow but will open at 11am the rest of the week, serving both lunch and dinner.
