FroZenYo Opens Friday with Free Froyo

Photo: FroZenYo/Official Site

Here's the news you've been waiting for: your pathetically minimal froyo options will increase this Friday with the grand opening of FroZenYo in the former Old Corner Bookstore space in Downtown Crossing. Mayor Menino will be there to cut a ribbon at 2:30pm, and customers can get free froyo from 2pm to 4pm. FroZenYo (pronounced fro-ZEN-yo, according to a press release) is based in DC, and this is the first Massachusetts franchise. Owner Matthew Coombs is already eyeing eastern Massachusetts for a second local franchise.

In addition to self-serve froyo, FroZenYo has breakfast baked goods, an aptly named line of coffee called Zombie, and something you definitely won't see anywhere else in town — bottles of water for a remarkably measly 29 cents. The shop will be open from 7am to 10pm daily.
