Five Horses Tavern in the South End Is Getting Close

Photo: Five Horses Tavern, South End/Melissa Ostrow for UrbanDaddy

The Davis Square-based Five Horses Tavern is on the verge of opening up its new South End location — it could happen "in the next week," reports UrbanDaddy. It's taking over the former Columbus Cafe space, and earlier reports indicate that it could have a patio as well as accordion-style windows that open up completely in warmer weather. As for the interior, think brick, hardwood floors, tavernesque lanterns, and glossy banquettes.

Five Horses focuses on craft beer (nearly 100 options), which pairs well with the comfort food menu, an assortment of sandwiches, small pizzas, tacos, and the like. There are a fair number of options, clearly marked, for vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free diners; several vegan tipsters swear by the "grazing plate," quinoa with a ton of veggies. Stay tuned for an opening date.
