Somerville's Diesel Cafe has been working on "mini-makeovers" throughout the summer, installing new wood counters and the like. The latest improvement, shown above: new tables made from flooring reclaimed from an old paper mill in Western Massachusetts. Also, there are 16 new outlets in the back of the store for those who want to type away all day. The reason for the slow pace? Rather than bringing in contractors, a team of Diesel staff members do most of the work themselves in their spare time.
