Winthrop's Amanda Oakleaf Cakes, recent winners of Boston Magazine's Best of Boston award for wedding cakes, will soon be moving to Boston's Fenway neighborhood. A blog post on the bakery's site indicates the new location, in addition to its catering services, will sell an "array of cakes, baked goods and treats including coffee and espresso drinks." Cake decorating classes will also be offered.
Owner Amanda Oakleaf started the business out of her Boston apartment five years ago, and has since been featured on the Food Network. The bakery expects to open in the Westland Ave. location of a long-shuttered dry cleaner either late this month or early next month. The current Winthrop space will see new owners open another bakery in its place, reports Oakleaf on her blog.
