SEAPORT DISTRICT — WBUR's Cognoscenti blog takes a nostalgic look at Anthony's Pier 4, the 50-year-old waterfront restaurant that will close tomorrow. "It would be easy to look at the restaurant's closing as the disappearance of yet another reminder of a troubled period in our city's past...But let's remember Pier 4 as an emblem of something else — of an immigrant's success, and of families creating their own traditions, and of the mingled cultures that lie everywhere throughout our city." [WBUR]
FORT POINT — Island Creek Oyster Bar's upcoming Fort Point sister restaurant, Row 34, will go before the licensing board tomorrow to get approval for the transfer of a liquor license from a South End company called Gullwing Realty. Row 34 is aiming for a fall opening. [AHaTIB]
NEWTON — Newton could be getting a new restaurant within the Crowne Plaza. Social Restaurant and Bar could have 172 seats and live music, but not much else is known at this point. [BRT]
