Two Boston Bars Take Home Tales Honors

Two Boston bars brought home high honors from the annual Tales of the Cocktail cocktail convention in New Orleans. Citizen Public House took home the People's Choice Trophy from the "Bare Knuckle Bar Fight." Seven bars from around the country were invited to recreate the look and feel of their home bars for an evening of drink slinging to a crowd of industry experts from around the world. When asked how it felt to win the prize, beverage director Joy Richard declared it a "fucking amazing honor."

The convention reserves their "Spirited Awards" dinner to announce the winners of the biggest honors. This year, Ft. Point's Drink took home the award for World's Best Cocktail Bar. General manager and founding bartender John Gertsen described the scene thusly:

I stood up from my seat, then jumped to the ground. There was a little pig-pile on John moment. I ran up onto the stage, pointed to everyone in the crowd, and then pointed to the award as I felt it's not our award, but is to be shared. My final words congratulated Boston, as I am so proud of everyone in the city and our collective efforts over the past decade or so.
