Phil Frattaroli, owner of Ducali, provides another vote for Galleria Umberto, declaring it to be his favorite greasy spoon ever. He remember going there at least once a week with his father (Filippo Frattaroli of Fillipp Ristorante), when they would each get two slices of Sicilian pizza and arancini, which he still believes to be the best around. This was part of his blossoming love for pizza, although Ducali serves Roman-style pizza, not Sicilian. Not only did he fall in love with Roman style when he studied abroad there, but he also did not want to serve Sicilian in respect for his favorite childhood place.
