The Fairmount Grill, whose owner promises to bring upscale and affordable dining to Hyde Park, opens at 5PM, according to a post today on their Facebook page first noted by Universal Hub. If the opening catches you by surprise, that makes sense, as the owners "didn't have much notice" themselves. The opening should be good news for the underserved Boston neighborhood, as it is replacing the Townsends location that has remained shuttered for more than a year, since the former tenant ceased paying rent. The city ultimately rescinded the Townsends liquor license, opening the way for Fairmount Grill to move in with the license from the now-closed Clarke's in South Station.
