Fans of El Centro in the South End can now flock to a second location for quesadillas de huitlacoche and enchiladas al horno. Appropriately named El Centro Dos, the new restaurant opens today at 236 Washington St., formerly an old real estate office. Chef/owner Allan Rodriguez traveled around his native Mexico to pick furniture, materials, and art to give the space an authentic feel, also gathering recipes along the way. "I wanted to bring a piece of my Mexico to Brookline after a successful two years in the South End," said Rodriguez, via a rep for the restaurant. "The Boston area has a lot of quote un-quote authentic Mexican restaurants, but they aren't the type of restaurants you find in Mexico." New to the second location is a full liquor license, so expect treats like watermelon sangria and spicy mango mojitos. For now, El Centro Dos will just serve dinner, but weekday lunch hours (11am to 3pm) will be added soon.
