Dossants at Sportello and Cro-Nots at The Gallows

The cronut craze has somehow barely touched Boston, with only a few impostors ("cronut" is trademarked by NYC's Dominique Ansel) popping up around town. Sportello has been offering "dossants" starting at 7am each Thursday this month, and the croissant-donut hybrids appear to be topped with strawberry frosting and strawberry pieces, as well as filled with creme between their flaky croissant layers, according to weekly photos on Sportello's unfairly tempting Facebook page. On the first day they were offered, almost all fifty were sold in the first hour.

Meanwhile, The Gallows has been perfecting a "cro-not" at recent Sunday brunches, a strawberry sauce, powdered sugar, and creme concoction. And Sweet Bakery and Bar out in Worcester has apparently been selling "dosants" — dark chocolate-filled, deep-fried croissants — for years. Spotted any other cronuts/dossants/etc. around town?
