You'll never believe it, but another froyo spot opens today. Well, sweetgreen does indeed have froyo, but the focus of the casual D.C.-based chain is really on the "organic, farm-to-table" salads (also available as wraps). There are some pre-designed combinations, like the Spicy Sabzi (baby spinach with spicy quinoa, spicy broccoli, carrots, raw beets, basil, sprouts, tofu, carrot chili vinaigrette, and sriracha), or customers can choose their own components, from leaf and grain bases to meat and non-meat proteins. Many ingredients are locally sourced and showcased on a chalkboard "Local List." The brand new Boston location celebrates its opening by offering everything as "Pay What You Want" until 4pm today, with all proceeds benefiting The One Fund Boston.
Locating in the former Ritz Camera space on Boylston St., sweetgreen features recycled oak beams and reclaimed wood tables, compostable packaging, LED lights, and other environmentally-minded details. One wall will feature a 15-foot mural by a Boston artist.
This is the first sweetgreen for the Boston area; there are 17 others around D.C., Virginia, Maryland, and Philadelphia, and two are headed for New York later this year. Boston's sweetgreen is open from 11am until 4pm today, but regular hours start up tomorrow — 11am to 10pm daily.
