Backbar's special 4 PM ramen is disappearing for the summer, only to be replaced by something a little more weather-appropriate: burgers. "I know all you Ramen-heads out there might be sad, but I think if you try the burger you'll find out it's for the better," writes general manager Sam Treadway on the Backbar blog. "Have no fear, Ramen will come back! I promise. But for the hot summer months there's just something about a delicious burger that sounds so much more appealing!"
The details: it's a 1/3-pound burger made with local meat, local tomatoes, and local onions. The bun is brioche and freshly baked. On the side, there are house-made pickles and a mixed green salad (the greens are also local.) It costs $12, and there are only 15 available per day, every day except Tuesday, offered between 4 PM and 6 PM (or 4:05 PM once the word gets out). Also going on between 4 PM and 6 PM every day? Genius Hour. There's free wi-fi "so you can finish up your work day in a more civilized fashion," and there's a $10 platter of "brain food" if you miss out on the burger.
