Indian restaurant Tamarind Bay in Brookline is closing on May 11 according to an email sent to the restaurant's subscriber list. The closure has been expected since this is the future site of one of the most highly anticipated restaurant openings of the year: Ribelle, a project by Tim Maslow and the team at the beloved Strip-T's in Watertown. According to the email, Tamarind Bay opened five years ago and is closing in part due to legal complications:
Late last year, our chef's visa got denied and we had to make a tough decision of continuing with a new concept and a new team, or just focusing on a single location. As we strive for quality and uniqueness of our food, we decided to continue at Harvard Square location and close Brookline.
The Brookline location, whose full name is Tamarind Bay Coastal Indian Kitchen, is survived by its Harvard Square sibling Tamarind Bay Bistro and Bar.
