Chacarero Opens at Pru: Cash-Wielding Lines Ensue

Chacarero, home of one of Boston's most iconic sandwiches, opened its anticipated Prudential location yesterday, according to a Facebook post from the mall noted by Boston Restaurant Talk. Lines were so long that security had to set up ropes to manage the crowds. The Chilean sandwich restaurant started in Downtown Crossing many years ago as one of the city's first successful pushcarts, ultimately opening a brick and mortar counter location built into the side of the now-torn-down Filene's. After leaving Filene's, the restaurant had been operating two downtown locations, on Arch and Province streets, though the Province St. location shuttered in 2011. If you go, bring cash; reports are this location is cash-only as well.

Update: With a visit to the new Chacarero, Eater learned that they are indeed taking credit cards, but their wireless card terminal malfunctioned during yesterday's open.
