Shanghai Social Club is headed for the Comm Ave space that was once Jalepeno's, and according to the restaurant's Facebook page, patrons can expect a July opening and an exterior along the lines of the rendering seen above. The Allston restaurant is a project of Bob Botchie, an alum of two of Boston's most well liked restaurants: Myers + Chang and Erbaluce. So, if you're not excited yet, get there. Botchie previously told The Skinny Beet to expect "Shanghai street food" and authentic, Chinese preparation with an American-Chinese spin. The restaurant's website describes Shanghai Social Club as a "unique place to enjoy a Traditional Chinese Dinner" complete with a scorpion bowl. From the photo gallery posted there, dumplings and bao might make appearances as well.
Update: Owner Doug Bacon, who also runs White Horse Tavern and The Last Drop, among others, tells Eater that Shanghai Social Club will be open seven days a week, starting with 5PM to 2AM and eventually adding daily lunch service.
