Ward 8, a new restaurant and cocktail bar named for the drink of the same name, expects to open in the former Nebo space in the North End this summer, according to NorthEndWaterfront.com. The owner will be Nicholas Frattaroli, whose relatives own multiple restaurants in the neighborhood including Lucia Ristorante, Filipo's Ristorante, and Ducali Pizzeria & Bar. Nebo closed in March, in anticipation of this summer's move to Fort Point. The Ward 8 cocktail is believed to have been invented at the former Locke-Ober in the late 1800s in honor of West End political boss Martin "Mahatma" Lomasney. Stay tuned for further details and send any of your own to the tipline.
