A new restaurant and "juicery" called Root is bound for the former home of Peace o' Pie at 487 Cambridge Street in Allston. It's unclear as of now whether root is vegetarian or vegan, like its predecessor, though the restaurant's website describes the concept as "plant-inspired." If Root is indeed vegetarian, it would be in good company with neighbors like vegan ice "cream" shop FoMu, which is next door, and vegan Chinese restaurant The Grasshopper, which is just a few doors down. Root promises it will operate "without definition, stereotype, or boundary," and yet the restaurant's hours-old Facebook page appears to indicate that there will be a veggie burger with sprouts. In other neighborhood news, food truck favorite Roxy's Grilled Cheese plans to open a brick and mortar restaurant just two doors down. Stay tuned for more details and send any of your own to the tipline.
