The Rosebud Diner in Davis Square, better known as The Rosebud, tells Eater that it plans to close on May 12, better known as Mother's Day. The historic/iconic/picturesque/nostalgic/old restaurant is reportedly being sold to Vinny Testa's - now Vinny T's - founder Marty Bloom, who told the Somerville Patch that "a big upgrade" was in store, though the National Register of Historic Places-worthy exterior of the diner car front will remain intact. Local band the_Stampede claims to be playing the last show ever in the restaurant's bar/music venue section, on May 11, and notes that they are "setting our guns to DESTROY." Hopefully their destruction won't affect that exterior.
Update: The Rosebud appears to be hanging on until at least mid-June.
