The second Boston location of Virginia-based burger chain Five Guys is now open near Northeastern at 263 Huntington Ave. The chain already had locations in Chelsea and Medford before coming to Downtown Crossing last November. Boston Hospitality and Tourism blog noticed that the new store was opening today "per a sign on the restaurant's door," and a call to the Downtown Crossing location confirms that Five Guys opened shop at 11AM. The first Five Guys opened in Arlington, VA in 1986, and according to the company website, there are now 1,000 locations another 1,500 in the works. Well, make that 1,499. In other burger chain news, Checkers is also now considering coming to town.
On the Five Guys menu: burgers, small burgers, hot dogs, fries, and sandwiches including grilled cheese. As with many burger chains, people tend to be divided into "it's just another burger chain" and "how could you say that it's just another burger chain... it is THE BEST!!! omg zomg!!!??!!!!" What's your take? Comment away.
