Burger titan Shake Shack appears to be headed for Harvard Square. Eater reader Seth Cohen tweeted the above photo of a public hearing notice stating that Shake Shack is hoping to open a location at 57 JFK Street. Shake Shack opened its first Boston-area location in Chestnut Hill last month, and of course everyone assumed the company was testing the waters for something closer to Boston proper, which now appears to be happening. Also, Shake Shack CEO Randy Garutti previously said "We're thrilled to make Boston our new home, and we look forward to bringing Shake Shack to other compelling sites in great neighborhoods in the Boston area." Not that Harvard is a burger desert, what with the iconic Mr. Bartley's and the newish Tasty Burger expansion, but still. This would be huge. The address listed on the notice is the home of the Indian restaurant The Maharaja, though an article in The Harvard Crimson says the address actually applies to what was until recently the home of Om. Stay tuned for details and confirmation, and in the meantime, drop any updates of your own to the tipline.
