Should Pinkberry Open Shop Deep in Gelato Country?

A franchise owner of the tangy yogurt behemoth Pinkberry is looking to open a new store right smack dab in the middle of the North End. North End Waterfront says that the franchisee who runs the Harvard Square and South Station Pinkberry stores hopes to open at 283-285 Hanover Street in what was once a shoe store. Chains are rare in this picturesque neighborhood, and dessert allegiances are already fierce what with Mike's Pastry, Modern Pastry, and Maria's Pastry, plus it's practically a zoning law that every establishment serve gelato. But would a trendy froyo shop alter the ambience of the neighborhood? Is that already a lost cause? What do you think? Weigh in via the comments.
