Longtime Southie Dive bar Aces High has indeed closed as it seemed to have based on reports that the bar's liquor license was being sought after. George Lewis Jr. of the upcoming "pizza-centric" Seaport District restaurant Pastoral confirms that he has indeed bought the license, and notes that the bar had already closed by that point. Lewis says that Aces High has been been closed for three to four weeks, the space has been demoed and its building has been sold. So no, there was no direct relationship between Aces High closing and Pastoral opening. In fact, according to Lewis, the owners of Aces High gave him the sign that hung above the bar, seen above. However, while the sign was being stored in the Pastoral space, it was stolen. Lewis has offered a reward for further information about the whereabouts of the sign: send any intel to the tipline.
