Proper Slice Replaces The Upper Crust on Newbury St.

Photo: Proper Slice, Brighton/Yelp

What was once a location of controversial, bankrupt local pizza chain The Upper Crust has now soft-opened as a second location of Brighton's Proper Slice. An employee from the original Proper Slice on Washington Ave shares that news, saying service may be somewhat limited until the pizzeria officially opens; stay tuned for that date. The company website declares that "a proper slice is 1/4 of a pie," So, big. Also on the menu: burgers, a Cuban sandwich, cucumber salad and pizzas ranging from soppressata and hot cherry peppers to Hawaiian. In other former Upper Crust news, what was once the company's Harvard Square location is slated to become The Just Crust, in which employees have a stake in ownership as opposed to being taken advantage of, as they were previously.

Update: Proper Slice on Newbury Street officially opens to the public Friday, March 15.
