Tonic in JP Closes for a Second Time

Once again, Tonic in JP has closed. Hopes were high that the bold and colorful Tonic would bring a new level of dining to the neighborhood, but the restaurant has had a spotty record since it opened in April 2012. First, executive chef Ryan Kelly left, then the restaurant went on an extended vacation, saying it was for health reasons, then it finally did reopen last November. Now, the Jamaica Plain Patch reports that the restaurant closed in December for "time off over the holidays" and has yet to reopen since then. Plus, a source tells the paper the restaurant is "done." Like surely everyone else at this point, the Patch wonders if the closure is "for good?" The voicemail system at Tonic is non-functioning, and the restaurant's Facebook page shows a series of unanswered questions about the reopening. Know more about Tonic? Hit up the tipline.
