The Persian Fiouna's Restaurant May Open in Fenway

Fiouna Catering of Newtown is looking to open a new Persian restaurant called Fiouna's Restaurant on Peterborough Street in Fenway. The Boston Hospitality and Tourism Industry Blog spots that item on a city of Boston license board hearing agenda, which shows that Fiouna's is applying to open in what was formerly Umi Japanese Cuisine and Sushi Bar, which was destroyed by the Restaurant Row fire of 2009. Boston doesn't have a ton of Persian cuisine, therefore this would be pretty exciting.

The Newton catering company was started by Mehrdad and Tara Jalilian in Tehran and has remained a family operation. If the restaurant follows the menu offered by the catering operating, expect to see salads, skewers, stews, and rice dishes. For instance, the khoresht gheymeh, in which stewed beef and yellow split peas are served with basmati. See below for the catering operation's existing takeout menu and, as always, do send in any further information of your own to the tipline.
