A new, big, downtown, outdoor music festival featuring 18 of the kinds of bands the kids are listening to these days called Boston Calling Music Festival is coming for Memorial Day weekend. And that's a big deal. In the words of The Phoenix, "here's that large-scale music festival we've all been talking about... oh, pretty much for forever now." The festival will take place at City Hall Plaza on May 25 and 26, and the lineup includes bands like The Shins, Andrew Bird, The Dirty Projectors, The National and Caspian. Tickets will go on sale Friday, March 1 at 10AM via www.bostoncalling.com and www.ticketmaster.com or, much better, for no fee at the box office at The Sinclair in Harvard Square. Tickets are sold as two-day passes: check out www.bostoncalling.com for an early bird sale, otherwise they're $120 for general admission and $325 for VIP. And yes, there will be food. Per a press release, there will be a beer garden and a food pavilion featuring food trucks and other local food vendors. See below for the full lineup of musicians.
