A new venue from The Painted Burro called Burro Bar is planning to open tomorrow, says Grub Street. The Painted Burro's Facebook page notes that the Davis Square restaurant closed last night and will remain closed today "while we finish our Burro Bar expansion." Burro Bar is headed for the space right next to The Painted Burro that was previously a location of Spike's Junkyard Dogs. Burro Bar will serve Mexican food and drink with an emphasis on tequila and tortas. Owner Joe Cassinelli, who also owns the nearby Posto, previously told Eater that the bar would be similar to The Painted Burro but would have a theme all its own. But one question remains: if this is a smaller, related version of The Painted Burro, why isn't it called The Painted Burrito?
Update: A representative from Burro Bar says the venue is planning for a soft opening over the next few days.
