As reported last month, the team behind jm Curley and a few other spots is opening a new restaurant, Merrill & Co., in the South End this spring. Now, a few more details are emerging. Boston Restaurant Talk confirms the rumor that the restaurant will be in the former 28 Degrees space on Appleton St., and it will serve "New England fare with a focus on local seafood." Also, Jason Cheek (formerly of KO Prime) will be executive chef, while jm Curley's Kevin Mabry (Eater's Bartender of the Year) will be beverage director. "Hello Twitter. Hello South End. Hello oysters, Sherry & beer!" says the restaurant on Twitter.
