As reported over the weekend, the upcoming "craft cocktail speakeasy" formerly known as Blind Tiger will actually be called Wink and Nod. The Boston Nightlife Ventures project is set to open in late January or early February at 3 Appleton St., the former Noche space in the South End. According to a statement from BNV president Euz Azevedo, Blind Tiger was a "project name...not the final name," and the team received feedback that it sounded like the name of an Asian restaurant, which it is not. Wink and Nod "sounded more in line of what we are trying to create in the space."
Azevedo states that Wink and Nod will feature "a serious craft cocktail program with a dinner menu that can be paired well with the inspired drinks and are encouraged to be shared," and the ambiance will be "mysterious yet enticing." It will be "the first of several new and exciting concepts" to open in the coming year. Another restaurant from the group, Griddler's Burgers and Dogs, is in the midst of at least one expansion (to Back Bay), with more possibly in the works.
