Shan-A-Punjab Has Replaced Cognac Bistro

Cognac Bistro closed in late September—owner Nelson Cognac is working on opening a new restaurant up in Vermont, by Jay Peak—and a new Indian restaurant has already opened up in the Brookline space. A Chowhound user noted that Shan-A-Punjab opened last week. It's an outpost of the similarly named Sher-A-Punjab in Quincy.

The menu has a variety of familiar Indian fare, from tandoori and biryani dishes to curries and many types of naan. A "Modern Indian" section of the menu features dishes like duck vindaloo, scallops balti, and tofu bhurji. Shan-A-Punjab is open from 11:30am-2:45pm and 5pm-10pm Monday through Friday, 11:30am-10pm Saturday, and 12pm-10pm Sunday.
