Les Zygomates, Sorriso, and other South St. businesses are temporarily closed due to a steam pipe that burst around 9:30 this morning. Universal Hub reports that a HAZMAT team was called to the scene along with the fire department because the old pipe could have an asbestos lining. Also, there's a broken water main.
Kate Holowchik, executive pastry chef at Les Zygomates and Sorriso, tells Eater that they were told it could take a few hours to clean up the mess "on a good day," so everything might be back up and running by tonight — or not. Stay tuned.
UPDATE: It was a good day indeed, and dinner service will proceed as usual at both restaurants.
