Ichiban Yakitori Sushi House Now Open in Fenway

Ichiban Yakitori Sushi House/Drew Starr

Ichiban Yakitori Sushi House has quietly opened in the West Fens and is serving dinner daily, with plans to offer lunch by the end of the month. Perhaps the owners have taken a lesson from the demise of Yakitori Zai — which was celebrated for its tasty food while being cursed for its expense during its short time open — as no single stick of yakitori rises above $3.50 in cost, though whole fish will run in the $8-10 range. In addition to the namesake sushi and yakitori dishes, the restaurant offers a variety of Japanese tapas and a handful of Korean entrees. Oh yeah, there is also ramen — specifically kakuni ramen, a style with a light soy-based stock and pork belly.

November has been a record month for yakitori openings in the Boston area, as Ittoku also opened earlier this month.
