Without warning to customers, the Back Bay location of L'Aroma Cafe closed two weeks ago. Since then, construction wrappings advertising a "local, award-winning cafe" have gone up on the windows of the Newbury Street coffee shop. The Boston Hospitality and Travel Industry Blog reports a third location of Thinking Cup could be opening in the space. Thinking Cup has remained coy about the prospect, choosing to neither confirm nor deny the expansion on Twitter.
L'Aroma opened under that name on Newbury in late 2005. It was previously a location of Torrefazione Italia, and reopened under the L'Aroma name when the Torrefazione family sold the brand to Starbucks. The L'Aroma in West Newton will remain open and employees there were unable to comment on the reasons behind the shuttering of the Newbury location.
