From 11am to 3pm today, hungry folks in the Audubon Circle area can get a first taste of Mei Mei, the new brick-and-mortar location from the folks behind popular food truck Mei Mei Street Kitchen. As reported last week, the restaurant will be softly open for the first couple weeks with limited hours and a limited menu, ramping up to full dinner service on November 25th.
For now, diners can expect lunch offerings similar to those on the truck, like the signature Double Awesome sandwich — cheese, poached eggs, and pesto between two scallion pancakes. A street food-style menu will always be available even after the official launch in a couple weeks, but the dinner offerings will be brand new; think "more and different proteins," more whole pig preparations, and seafood.
