Tasty Burger's plan to open a new location in the space of the recently shuttered Lyndell's Bakery by Central Square has been thwarted, Cambridge Day reports. Although it's barely two blocks from the heart of the square, the Prospect St. spot is fairly residential, and the licensing commission was not willing to allow late-night wine and beer. That was a deal-breaker for Tasty Burger, which serves alcohol at its Fenway and Harvard locations. The commission does seem interested in a restaurant for that spot — but not one that will draw a drunken late-night crowd.
