More Changes in Store for Yoma?

Photo: Yelp/henry t.

Boston's only Burmese restaurant, Yoma, closed briefly over the summer and reopened with an all-vegetarian menu, minus many of the Burmese dishes for which it was known. Meat quickly got reintroduced to the menu, but only in the form of chicken and shrimp, some Chowhound users reported. Quality had also gone downhill, some said.

Now it looks like more changes could be in store for the restaurant. According to the agenda for a Boston licensing board meeting tomorrow, Yoma is requesting to change its name to Yoma Myanmar Tea Cafe, which suggests a new focus on, well, tea. (Myanmar is the common shortened form of Burma's official name, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.) Stay tuned for more, and hit up the tipline with any intel.
