South Station Gets Tavern in the Square, New Bathrooms

Photo: Tavern in the Square Allston/Official Site

Now there's a timeline for that Tavern in the Square expansion previously reported to be headed to South Station: expect an opening in late November or early December. It'll have 50 draft beers and seating for 40, tiny compared to the chain's outposts that are actually in squares, like Porter and Central. The opening is part of a larger project to revamp the station (Starbucks and a two-story CVS are also coming in.) The highlight, perhaps: an "airport-quality ladies' room" where Clark's used to be and "an expanded high quality men's room" where the current bathrooms are. Drink beer, enjoy an airport-quality toilet, get on the train.
