KENDALL SQUARE — This Sunday, October 20th, there's a one-off doughnut and coffee pop-up at Voltage Coffee in Kendall Square from noon until 6pm. Well, there's always coffee there, but the doughnuts are special. Voltage owner Lucy Valena is collaborating with a chef and bartender from jm Curley, Chris Bauers and Daren Swisher. Doughnut flavors include mai tai, Mexican hot chocolate, and apple cider bacon, plus a couple of others. [Twitter]

SOUTH END — The James Beard Foundation is hosting a gala this Friday at Cyclorama from 6pm to 9pm. The event, dubbed "The Chef's Table," features dishes from chefs Lydia Shire, Brooke Vosika, Will Gilson, Joanne Chang, and more.
