Pizzeria Threatens Customers With Alarming Junk Mail

The South End Pizza & Grill has adopted a rather agressive marketing strategy according to a recent post on Chowhound. There, a user who goes by the handle Taralli says that the Tremont Street restaurant has been sending ads in envelopes marked with the following:

REQUEST FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION - TIME SENSITIVE MATERIAL
WARNING: $2,000 FINE, 5 YEARS IMPRISONMENT, OR BOTH, FOR ANY PERSON INTERFERING OR OBSTRUCTING WITH DELIVERY OF THIS LETTER. U.S. MAIL TTT.18 U.S. CODE

The pizzeria did not originate the phrase, which has been appearing on junk mail for at least a year, and which is certainly familiar, though not from a place that wants the recipient to eat their pizza. South End Pizza & Grill could not be reached for comment at this time, but other Chowhound commenters were quick to join the conversation. After the original post noted "I'd never frequent a business that would send out this kind of advertising." Local restaurant critic MC Slim JB wrote "Especially since their product is so grim."
