Fiesta Bakery & Restaurant was damaged by a fire last night, which burned from 7 PM until almost 9 PM, sent one firefighter to the hospital, and caused major traffic delays around Union Square in Somerville. The fire began in the basement of the building, 316 Somerville Ave., and traveled up through the walls and into a loft space. As of this morning, some windows were boarded up, but the outside of the structure appeared mostly intact. Union Square Main Streets reports that the building has been here since the Civil War. According to the business' description on Yelp, Fiesta is a Haitian bakery and restaurant with a full takeout menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner that includes meat patties and tropical fruit juices.
