Update: Barcelona Wine Bar has had its soft-opening and plans to open shortly but is not open tonight, as previously reported, due to a delay. See below for the original post and stay tuned for news of the official opening.
The Connecticut-based Barcelona Wine Bar is preparing to open its eleventh restaurant, in Brookline's Washington Square and in the space that was once American Craft. A representative for the company tells Eater that the restaurant soft-opened this past Saturday night, attracting those hyperlocal souls willing to brave the snow for some tapas. The restaurant remained open on Sunday as well, closed for Monday and Tuesday, and expects to open this week. Adam Halberg, who is executive chef for the company, says that there will be some menu items found at Barcelona locations in Connecticut, but that this menu is different from the rest and is "more aggressive." Upstairs on the Square alum Steve Brand serves as executive chef with Emilio Garcia, formerly of Happy's Bar + Kitchen, as executive sous chef. Also headed for Washington Square: the next project for Strip-T's chef Tim Maslow, which may or may not be called Ribelle.
