Harvard Square Toscano Could Open This Month

Photo: Toscano Beacon Hill/Official Site

Toscano of Beacon Hill is gearing up for a jump across the Charles with the opening of its second location in Harvard Square, and according to a Craiglist job post, that could be just weeks away. The post says the Brattle Street restaurant will seat 120, is in "the final stages of construction," and it declares "We will be opening our doors late January/Early February." The Cambridge Toscano, which is headed for the space that was the longtime home of Cafe of India, had originally hoped for a fall 2012 opening. The restaurant has yet to clarify exactly how similar the expansion will be to the original, but, given the name, it will surely draw influences from Tuscany, perhaps including pizza and pasta dishes like the speck pizza, with smoked prosciutto, tomato, arugula and fresh mozzarella, and the ravioli gamberi, with in-house spinach-ricotta, shrimp and tomato. Stay tuned for further details and drop your own via the tipline.
