The Seaport District is slated to get its third steakhouse. The Herald reports that an Indiana-based steakhouse chain called Eddie Merlot's "is in the final stages of lease negotiations" to secure a spot at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel, which is already home to a handful of restaurants and bars including City Bar, Birch Bar, MJ O'Connor's and Sauciety, and which is expecting the new comedy club Laugh Boston by spring. The Herald reports that Eddie Merlot's would fall somewhere in the 300 to 400 seat range with entrees starting at $24.
The Herald also notes that Eddie Merlot's has eight exisiting locations in the Midwest (also Kentucky) and would here join the nearby Morton's and Del Frisco's, both of which are also steakhouses. Judging from menus at other Eddie Merlot's locations, the Boston outpost would most likely serve the typical range of cuts plus classic steakhouse sides, and may make use of dry ice for seafood presentation flourishes. A lounge menu of the chicken and waffles and taco variety may also be offered.
